im an antiques expert

so the last few weeks or so i have been trawling the streets looking for vintage treasures to sell in my sparkly new etsy shop stevensstuff .for ages now i have been looking through the vintage section of etsy and i have been getting more and more excited to start this new adventure, and so far its a success, i sold 6 things in the first few weeks, and that to me is brilliant, i love taking the pictures and styling them to make the products look the best they can....and i hope you will agree that my shop looks nice, i kinda like it more than my handmade shop at the moment...but i wont give up on that, maybe i just need some new motivation...so for now its a vintage way for me, with a few supplies thrown in for good measure....my david looks at what i get and just shakes his head in horror, but as i always say..one persons trash is another persons gold..

so you know what im gonna say next...go NOW to stevensstuff and grab yourself some vintage.

valentines memory

so i know it was a few days ago now but i just wanted to show you guys firstly some amazing flowers that were for sale at a train station i went through the day before valentines...now they were beautiful and the colours intense but can you guess how much they were..only £45.00 a bunch..or to you guys in the US, $90.00, now dont you think thats disgusting..i would rather be given the cash..

and now to what i got from my david, he knows me so well and came home with this amazingly spotty colourful incredibly brilliant tea pot and matching cups...i LOVE it sooo much...my only disappointment is that he does not drink tea, or coffee so i will be pouring tea for one...im the luckiest man alive to have him in my life....look at it, its brilliant.

sunny wanderings

so i have lived in london for over 10 years now and still have not done most of the things and places tourists seem to flock to...untill yesterday when a friend came to visit and we went to the Tower of London...the place of many executions and historical moments in history...and the home of the crown jewels, and we had a lovely time..the place is like a mini town within some massively thick walls, and what struck me was just how beautiful it is inside ..i would never have guessed such amazing buildings and details..oh and the sun was shining super bright and made the whole place really come alive...

many kings and queens and stupidly famous historical figures have passed through the cobbled streets and have been im-prisoned in its cells and had their heads chopped off, that the place almost seems unreal..and if i dare say it...a little bit like a disney theme park..

but the thing that blew my mind most was that the Beef Eaters, who guard the place and do the tours, all live within the grounds and the fact that they sleep where Henry the 8th once wandered, kinda makes me go wow..and i found the house i want to move into...look at this..its like some new york townhouse, but its inside the Tower of London..and some lucky bugger calls this home....its just opposite where Anne Bolyn lost her head...literally...what a fun day...maybe i should get out more..

shop shop shopping

so i have been on a mini etsy shopping spree recently and have gathered a rather lovely little collection of prints, and originals, i prefer gocco prints as at least they have small imperfections that make them more "original"...and the snob in me would always get an "original " if i could.....so just look at these lovelies that I'm sure to be adding to,..I'm not saying which ones, but my David was not impressed by my choices...what does he know...he works in a bank...he knows numbers...not art....ill let you all guess where they are from...ill give you a clue...my etsy faves and blog links will help...

from where i sit

so here i am slightly bored with nothing good on the TV and a thousand things running through my head, should i have a cup of tea, should i go out later, should i start making things, should i hoover the carpet,...and on and on my brain goes and truthfully nothing really ever gets done...but the truth is I'm surrounded by inspiration so really the lack of motivation is purely down to me being one big fat lazy bas@*&%...look at what i see from where I'm sat...

the dog is asleep in her basket full of colorful cushions, the sun is streaming in and all of my treasured trash is looking more alive than ever, you can see art i have made, junk i have gathered, photographs i love and many things with faces staring back at me..inspiration surely can be found in this view so whats stopping me ?

there are cushions i have made and a gigantic Eeyore that we won at a fun fair and a vintage clock that has never worked, and a long piece of art i created that forever is wonky against the wall...and you know what i love it all...its my world and ill clutter it up if i want to...but it still don't make me wanna get busy...i think i will have that cup of tea and ill start again tomorrow...

spice girls rule

so like many other excited folks around the world i screamed a happy scream when i heard they were getting back together and i knew i had to see them live having missed out the first time around....so we went and i danced my fat ass off to the most fun show i have seen recently...

from the moment they came on stage till the moment they left it was a none stop spectacular of lights ,lasers and classic pop songs that helped the whole place dance like there was no tomorrow...or maybe that was just me....each spice girl did a solo song and every time posh spice was even on screen the whole place screamed...or again was that just me ?...either way it was a fun fantastic colourful night out...so people of the world...spice up your life..

i cant imagine how long it must have taken to make...go and see this shop lucinda is a knitting genius, and she calls this a work of art..and i agree..

happy christmas

so our tree is brilliant..or so i think. its small and pink and has lights attached already so none of that placement problems..and this year i have hung garden gnome gift tags from ikea as my decoratons, and i love it, and so does our kitten cheese who thinks its one big sparkly toy..

however i seem to be the only one that likes it...my david is disgusted by it and is not shy in telling me its crap...i disagree, and my family even looked at me like i was a nutter and just did not get its brilliance...

but every day i look at it and smile a festive smile and look at these little guys and think "thank giod it will only take 10 seconds to take down"..
so merry christmas and all that jazz...my tree is the best...

dipped biscuit fun

so I'm a cheapskate, and for some friends gifts this year i bought some nice biscuits, melted down a toblerone and dipped the biscuits in the gloop and sprinkled on some hundreds and thousands...and if i say so myself..they rocked, i wrapped them in some greaseproof paper and away they went, I of course kept many for myself and they were yum in my tum...my David looked at them and said he would be offended if i had given him any..oops..a nice Christmas surprise he is getting then.

guess where i have been

so I'm a bad blogger..its been ages ,but things recently just seem to have gotten crazy with no time for me to sit and concentrate..my other job in the real world has been busier than usual which has been fun and i kinda lost my momentum to keep up with this ole thing, never mind with actually making things to sell, ill start that again next year i think ?....anyway can you guess where i have been, ? only blooming new york city..it was a long planned trip and it consumed my excitement for many months...

we arrived at our Washington square based hotel, got out of the cab and stepped out into the most freezing cold weather i think i have ever felt...it was chilling me to the core of my bones...and I'm a big boy with added padding and i still thought it was horrible...however the next morning we went and had french toast and sausage and started our adventure properly..
and over the next 3 days we just walked a gazillion miles and jumped on and off the subway going from place to place seeing lovely things along the way, i must confess to being a bit of a building geek and love the sky scrapers of new york, we have massive buildings here in London but they just don't compare to new york in the drama stakes, it seems that a gigantic building can spring out of the smallest bit of land..my favourite parts of our walks were when we ventured away from the tourist packed areas and found ourselves on grungy back streets where it felt like the real new york, and central park was my real highlight, i just wanted to see the ice skaters and get a picture..
we ate in some lovely places and had fab food, we saw some big fancy Broadway shows, one if which was brilliant...(young Frankenstein)...and one which made me want to gag with its sickly cuteness..(little mermaid).

i was going to do a shop report and show some pics i took, but without sounding to cocky, i was a bit disappointed with what i saw, living in London spoils me with amazing shops and i think they take some beating, and the only shop that really impressed me was anthropologie which was lovely and styled very brilliantly, and had some heart beat increasing things,..i wanted urban outfitters to be better than London but they were exactly the same really...just a lot cheaper,..and the big stores were OK but nothing i cant see here in London...the next time i come to new york I'm planning on seeking out more of the independent places and venturing off Manhattan and seeing what i can find, but i do LOVE LOVE LOVE new york and cant wait to go back..
